Section J and beyond - Regulation changes and impacts, featuring case studies
Thermal performance in Australia’s built environment has improved from very low levels 30 years ago, however, there is no doubt that there are still significant opportunities for further improvement. Changes in the NCC 2019 are a step in this direction with further improvements mooted for 2022. Understanding these changes and their impact on building design and the opportunities they provide are important factors for architects. Bondor in conjunction with BCA Energy will present an overview of the changes in the BCA 2019 as they relate to thermal performance in general and the implications for insulated panels in particular.

Robert Romanous from BCA Energy will cover the changes in NCC 2019 for wall and roof configurations, the impact of thermal bridging, the new façade calculation method for insulation and glazing, building sealing, ventilation, and other areas of change or increased stringency.

Homeira Aryanpad from Bondor will discuss the implication for insulated panels and results from recent studies, both simulations, and independent real-life performance studies.
